The management of University of Port-Harcourt invites applications from suitably eligible applicants for admission into its available postgraduate programmes for the 2022/2023 academic session
This is to notify all candidates that the
University of Port-Harcourt Postgraduate programme admission form for the 2022/2023 academic year is out and now on sale.
University of Port-Harcourt Postgraduate admission requirement & eligibility
Programs are obtainable in all Faculties for the PGD, Master’s and Doctoral Degrees respectively in the various departments.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY
– O/LEVEL REQUIREMENT
All applicants require at least a credit pass in English Language and Mathematics for all the courses. Also, candidates who at the time of this application obtained their O’Level Certificates before 2012 without a credit pass in Mathematics and wish to be admitted into the following diciplines are qualify to apply:
School of Humanities: All the Departments in the Faculty.
School of Education: All the Departments in the Faculty.
School of Social Sciences: All the Departments in the School of Social Sciences exception of the Department of Economics.
REQUIREMENT FOR PGP PROGRAMMES
The average requirement for the Postgraduate Diploma Programmes is a Bachelor’s Degree in the related departments. Applicants must have at least a Second Class Honours Degree or Third Class in the associated Discipline. For HND holders, a minmal of Upper Credit is allowable in the applicable Departments.
REQUIREMENT FOR PGDC
For the PG Diploma in Chemistry (PGDC) Programme, applicants with Third Class need not apply.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMMES
Applicants must have at least a Second Class Honours Degree of the University of Port-Harcourt or any uphold University, in the applicable course with a minimal CGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale or its comparable.
Applicants for the Master’s in Education must have acquired a first Degree in another field and, in addition, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) with at least a Upper Credit classification. Candidates for the MBA Programme must have a strong measurable background. Applicants with PGD must have a CGPA of 3.50 to register for a Master’s Degree in the associated field.
FOR PhD PROGRAMMES
for PhD Programmes, applicants should have a Master’s Degree with a minimal CGPA of 3.50 or 4.00 depending on the Department or its comparable grade in the applicable discipline at the Master’s level. Admission will be based on interview execution. PhD requires course work and qualifying examination.
FOR MD/MS PROGRAMME
Applicants must either be graduates of Medicine (MBBS) of the University of Port-Harcourt for not less than five (5) years or experienced academic staff of the University with a Medical Degree of up hold University.
PERIOD FOR THE GRADUATE PROGRAMMES
A. Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
The Programme is to for a Full-Time basis to last for 12 calendar months and a maximum of 24 calendar months, and two successive long holidays of eight (8) weeks each for the sandwich programme.
B. MBA Programme
is to run for a Full-Time: at least24 Calendar Months and Maximum of 36 Calendar Months while Part-Time is a Minimal of 36 Calendar Months and a Maximum of 48 Calendar Months respectively.
C. MD and MS Programmes
The Programmes will run for a minimum of 24 Calendar Months.
D. PhD Programmes
Full-Time students will be required to spend a minimal of 24 calendar months and a maximum of 60 calendar months.
Part-Time candidates are to spend a minimum of 36 calendar months and a maximum of 84 calendar months.
E. FOR DBA Programme
The programme will run for Full-time: applicants shall be asked to spend a minimum of three (3) years and a maximum of five (5) years.
Application procedure for University of Port-Harcourt postgraduate admission.
Candidates are to pay the sum of Fifteen Thousand Naira (N15,000.00) for the application.
payment should be made online at any of the following commercial Banks: U&C Microfinance Bank, UBA, Fidelity Bank, Access Bank, Eco Bank, First Bank and Sterling Bank.
It is complusory for every candidate to pay the sum of Seven Thousand Naira (N7,000.00) for) for Brochure.
Applicants should also visit the School Post Graduate portal to download the Application Forms after payment is made.
NOTE: payment for Application Form does not assure admission and the application fee is non-refundable.
