Eligibility Criteria | Malaysian Government Scholarships 2022/2023

Graduates from the recipient countries (see guidelines) of MIS 2022 should apply for the Government of Malaysia International Scholarship in 2022/2023.

  • Desire to pursue full-time postgraduate studies in Malaysia (Masters/Ph.D.); or
  • Are now enrolled in full-time postgraduate study in Malaysian state universities and private higher education institutions.
  • In addition, the applicant must fulfill the following requirements.
  • At the time of application for Master’s and Ph.D. levels, is not more than 40 and 45 years old, respectively.
  • Possessing strong academic credentials:
  • Applicants for master’s degrees must have a CGPA of 3.0 / 2nd Class Upper (Honours) or better on their bachelor’s degree;
  • CGPA 3.0 / outstanding performance at the Masters level in courses relating to the proposed study program for Ph.D. applicants
  • Developing a strong command of the English language:
  • Obtaining an IELTS band of 6.0 or above; or
  • Obtaining a TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) overall score of 550 or above; or
  • Has previously earned a degree in which English was utilized as the medium of instruction (evidence is a prerequisite).
  • submitting a 1,000-word written research proposal that is related to the targeted topic of study

Scholarship Benefits

This scholarship covers tuition expenses as well as a monthly living allowance of RM 1,500.00.

Successful applicants will be expected to plan their own travel to Malaysia (non-financial provisions). The Malaysian government will not cover your travel expenditures.

It is strongly encouraged that all applicants research the projected living expenditures in Malaysia.

Procedures for submitting an application

How to Apply: To apply for MIS, go to the program’s online application portal. Applicants will be required to furnish all required information. and have all of the required documents scanned and stored in PDF format before uploading to the online application system

 

Documents Required for the Application:

  • Form of Application;
  • As proof of nationality, a certified copy of your passport;
  • a certified copy of any previous academic transcripts;
  • a certified copy of the English Proficiency Test (IELTS/TOEFL) result;
  • Two (2) referees’ letters of recommendation;
  • Form for Endorsement;
  • If applicable, a letter of admission from a Malaysian university or higher education institute;
  • Curriculum Vitae, as well as
  • Proposal for Research
